Dear Calaveras County,

I am deeply grateful and honored to be serving an 18-month appointment as Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools following the retirement of previous superintendent, Karen Vail. In my over eight years at the Calaveras County Office of Education, I held a variety of positions and consistently advanced within the organization to become the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services before my appointment as Superintendent of Schools. Prior to working at CCOE, I led Avery Middle School as principal, the position that brought my family and I to Calaveras County, where all three of our children have grown and attended school.

As an educator, I am committed to ensuring all students  receive the support they need to be successful. Every child deserves the opportunity to follow his or her dreams, and the education available to them provides the pathway to those dreams. In 22 years working in schools, I have seen the way education can change lives and families for the better, and how a lack of education can limit a person's choices. The kids (and adult learners) in our community deserve an engaging and relevant education that provides them with the tools they need for success.
